Rep. Paul Ryan R- WI The Future of the Republican Party
Rep. Paul Ryan was born on January 29, 1970 in Janesville, Wisconsin. He is married to Janna Ryan and they have three children Liza, Charlie and Sam. He is currently the Republican representative of Wisconsin's 1st. congressional district. He assumed office on January 3, 1999. Rep. Ryan attended Miami University where he graduated with a degree in economics and political science.
Ryan began his political career as an aide to US. Senator Bob Kasten in 1992 and went on to serve as legislative director for Sam Brownback of Kansas from 1995-1997. He also served as speech writer for Jack Kemp in his bid for the vice presidency.
He was first elected to the House in 1998 and was recently elected again in the November election.
Ryan is the highest ranking member of the US House Committee on the Budget. He introduced the Legislative Line Item Veto Act of 2006. He also serves on the US Congress Joint Economic Committee and the US House Committee on Ways and Means.
Congressman Ryan recently introduced a comprehensive blueprint for reforming taxes, entitlements, retirement and health care. If Republicans are looking for a road out of the political wilderness, they should pay attention.
