Has Orwell’s 1984 arrived America? Socialist Barack Hussein Obama wants complete control of your life. Government intrusion will be the rule of the day if socialist Obama and the socialist Democrats have their way.
Socialist Obama in his cyber town hall meeting told those watching that he wants a smart meter installed in every home. This meter will monitor your electricity usage. If socialist Obama has his way he can tax you for what he decides is excessive power
usage.
How intrusive can it become? A smart meter installed in every home. Obama is just waiting to have enough electricians trained to install this meter. The government intruding in your home. The electric Comrade reporting to the government how much electricity you are wasting.
There is a plus. It will mean new government jobs. Before long socialist Obama will have an internet site where you can apply to be the electric Comrade of your neighborhood. The electric Comrades will have extra privileges, and entitled to an extra bread ration.
Today also California announced they may ban black cars in California. Big brother will decide what color car you can drive. The socialists in California have decided that black cars use too much gas. That there is extra gas usage to cool a black car.
It’s starting America. Orwell just had the year wrong. It wasn’t 1984 it is 2009. Once the socialists get their foot in the door there will be no stopping them. Black cars, smart meters today and tomorrow they will come up with something else.

Just how many electricians will Obama need for installing smart meters? I don't really think this is a threat to our liberty, we should know by now that high electricity consume brings more harm than good, the best thing we can do is to start acting like responsible citizens.

Yes you are right that we as Americans must begin to consume less energy but thinking that government control over that and their becoming more instrusive in our lives is the answer is wrong
The goverment little by little is attempting to take away liberties and before you know it you will have none. We do not need our government to tell us to change our light bulbs or lower our AC temperature We need them to concentrate on alternative energy means, reducing our dependence on foreign oil and the like. We do not need them to monitor us in our own homes.

"Socialist" Obama?? How dare you say that this wonderful initiative be anything but positive to our energy dependence and our economic state! The smart meters merely give us American's an opportunity to LIMIT our energy use to keep our costs down! Do you really think that this is an attempt to "big brother" us? Really? where were you 2 years ago when the Bush Administration tapped phone lines? And that surely wasn't to cut down on spending or create new jobs! That was just an excuse to wield power on the high horses they were riding! Again, how dare you not see this as a positive thing! Liars and scare mongers!
