What’s Next For The Tea Party?

What Action Will The Outrage Produce?

The tea party has decisions to make.  Thus far the many small groups across America have been a plus for freedom and democracy. What will be next for the tea party?  Last weekend the first National Tea Party Convention was held in Nashville, TN.  By most accounts the convention was a success and Governor Sarah Palin had the group cheering.

The loosely organized smaller groups have been working well.  America and the politicians have seen that the party can bring many different groups together on important topics.  The politicians know the tea party is for real.  They attempt to downplay it but they and the elitist progressive liberal main stream media are afraid of it.  Listen to them call names and downplay the groups uniting for the battle to stop government takeover.

What action should the group now take?   Is the answer starting a third political party?  Is the answer joining with the Republicans?  Is the answer  to remain in small local groups?

To be most effective the tea party should probably stay as it is now.  Remain as small groups on a local basis that can unite into a large front when needed.  These small groups went to town hall meetings and let their feelings be known.  It had its effect.  The politicians and main stream media tried to blow it off as right wing extremists.  We knew better and now so do they.

Then just as happened last summer with the Washington rallies large groups quickly assembled to unite with one voice.  This couldn’t be ignored even by the socialist left.  They kept going but many politicians have heard the message.

Uniting with any party will dilute the effectiveness of the tea party.   Working with the Republican Party when they have a viable conservative candidate can help.  The strength may be in making the Republican Party come to the tea party groups.   Perhaps the Tea Party can be instrumental in making the Republican Party get back to its core values and conservative roots.

Starting a third party at this time may be worse of all options.  There is no way to create a viable  third party in such a short time.  What would happen is that the tea party would end up taking votes away from a conservative party candidate and the socialist liberals would win.  That would become a lose/lose proposition.

They need to build from the bottom.  They can do this by grass roots involvement in the local political scene and working together on the local front to bring city, county, and state governments under control and headed to fiscal responsibility.  That doesn’t mean we ignore the issues in Washington.  Quite the opposite; we must when needed respond as last year to stop the socialist destruction of America.

United the tea party can make a difference locally and nationally.  At this time attempting to start a national third party would dilute the strength that has been built in the last year.  The Tea party we will make a difference in future elections.

We at SpeakNowAmerica are proud of our small part to help the tea party movement.  I attended the rally in Washington last November.  I will be attending more.  It was an exhilarating experience.

The emergence of the Tea Party is a group whose time is now. I agree that we need to stay involved, vocal, demonstrative, and unrelenting when the issues demand it. To begin a 3rd party (while that seemed attractive when I stood staring at the screen in my voting booth and questioned why I was voting at all last POTUS election) would be deadly for the conservative movement.

What we need right now is for the conservatives to effect change from within the Republican party; oust the Rhinos that have kept us in the Dems pockets all these years, and put conservatives in office.

That will be a political party worth supporting and for whom I will work to remain free and strong.

    Always,
