Unemployment Up Number Of Homeless Up

Barack Hussein Obama and his Democrat minions are crossing America with the message the stimulus package has worked.  The Labor Department said yesterday that first-time claims for unemployment benefits rose by 31,000 to a seasonally adjusted 473,000.  Thursday's news deflated analysts' hopes that new claims would continue to decline. Economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters had expected new claims to fall modestly.

Obama said the stimulus legislation he signed a year ago helped avert an economic catastrophe as his administration undertook a concerted effort to highlight the benefits of the $862 billion package.  Obama said, “It is largely thanks to the Recovery Act that a second depression is no longer a possibility.” The ceremony marked the anniversary of enactment of the measure to revive growth and stem job losses after the biggest slump since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

House Minority Leader John Boehner since the measure was passed, “more than 3 million Americans have lost their jobs, unemployment is near 10 percent and the deficit is set to hit a record $1.6 trillion,” along with the accompanying  Republican report, entitled “Where Are the Jobs?”

Boehner also said the stimulus law’s first anniversary “marks one year of broken promises, bloated government and wasteful spending.”

Obama said that even though stimulus spending isn’t popular with the nation facing such a budget shortfall, “we had a responsibility to do what was right for the U.S. economy and for the American people.”    Unemployment, which was 9.7 percent last month, is forecast to hover at about 10 percent for all of 2010.

“What we expect is steady healing” of the economy with “moderate growth” this year, Christina Romer, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, said on Bloomberg Television.

America understands the stimulus package is a failure.  That it hasn’t helped the economy because it was never intended to help the economy.  This is Obama and Democrat fraud.  They want America suffering.  That gives these conquerors more power over us.
