Democrats Claim They Have Cut Taxes

Representative Mike Pence (R-IN) claims Americans are unhappy.  Republicans on Capitol Hill hope to take a stand against what they see as excessive government spending. Pence said Americans have had enough with the skyrocketing federal deficit.

"They're frustrated with a Washington DC that while they're making sacrifices, while they're doing the hard work to meet the needs of their families and their businesses in the city and on the farm and they see Washington DC borrowing and spending and bailouts and takeovers and the message that our members heard when they went home was enough is enough," said Pence.

On the floor of the House said, "I just happened to wonder, Mr. Speaker, about the American people looking in this morning to hear Democrats saying they cut taxes more than any other congress in history. Let me see if we can do this: they passed a budget with record taxes and spending, add a trillion dollars to the national debt in the next 10 years, they passed a national energy tax called the cap and trade that will cause utility rates to go up on small businesses and family farms and businesses across the this country by hundreds of billions of dollars."

Pence: "Get government out of the way, and this economy will come roaring back."
